General Surgery Residency Program

Outstanding training, in service to Brooklyn's diverse patient population.

 

The surgical residency program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University has a rich tradition of training numerous surgeons who have subsequently excelled in either the academic or the private sector. The residency is approved by the Residency Review Committee in Surgery to graduate eight residents each year. Rotations take place at the following six locations: University Hospital of Downstate, Coney Island Hospital, Kings County Hospital, New York-Harbor VA Medical Center- Brooklyn Campus, Richmond University Medical Center, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
