Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – Integrated Residency Program
Since 1997, the Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals Plastic Surgery Residency Program has historically produced well-rounded, technically proficient and highly successful plastic surgeons, many of whom have significantly contributed to the advancement of our specialty academically both nation- and worldwide. The Integrated Residency Program was founded in 2006 and has accepted two residents per year for a total of 12 residents at any given time. Starting in 2021, the program will expand and accept three residents every year.
With access to multiple high volume hospitals and leading experts in multiple subspecialties, our residents have the privilege to be immersed in the full spectrum of plastic surgery, including general head-to-toe wound care and reconstruction, oncologic and traumatic microsurgical reconstruction, limb salvage, breast reconstruction, acute and chronic hand surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, including brachial plexus, complex pediatric and adult craniofacial surgery, gender affirmation surgery, facial and body cosmetic surgery as well as migraine surgery with pioneering faculty.
Countless ongoing projects in clinical research within the multiple hospitals as well as a fully-equipped basic science research lab and our division’s own microsurgery lab provide ample opportunities for innovation, academic achievement and technical advancement.
Our direct affiliation and proximity to Case Western Reserve University, a top notch university with extensive funding provides residents with full access to multiple facilities including the new health education building, multiple libraries, Thinkbox and multiple athletic recreation facilities, all within walking distance.
