Welcome to the Pediatric Residency program at Loyola University Medical Center affiliated with Stritch School of Medicine. We are a three year categorical pediatrics residency program, accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.

Our program’s mission is to prepare physicians who will be:

  • Exceptional general pediatricians who have a strong knowledge base because of exposure to a diverse patient population with a wide variety of pathology and diagnoses. Inquisitive providers who are motivated to practice evidence-based medicine and are eager to contribute to quality improvement and clinical research.

  • Have experience in Global Health with a well-established program from the graduate of medical education office.

  • Compassionate leaders who are committed to volunteering and improving the lives of individuals in their communities.

  • We have a community tract with its own project. Please use program overview for details.

We are interested in applicants who are passionate about pediatrics, are supportive towards their colleagues, and are self-directed learners who are eager to work in inter-professional teams. We are highly interested in applicants who have a growth mindset; specifically, those who are excited to take on new challenges and be receptive to feedback in order to grow as an individual and as a pediatric provider.

We promote an open and supportive learning environment that encourages you to:

  • Become an intellectually curious professional
  • Provide exceptional care to patients and their families
  • Advocate for the health of all children

Our curriculum is balanced between inpatient and outpatient medicine, both for primary and subspecialty pediatrics, and it is designed to meet the needs of each individual.

Our graduates are poised to be strong general pediatricians who have the knowledge and desire to pursue a career in general pediatrics, pediatric hospital medicine or pediatric subspecialty fellowship.
