Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at the University of Virginia Health System!

Our ACGME-accredited Fellowship Program is designed to train academic pediatric gastroenterologists with the first year of focusing on developing outpatient and inpatient clinical skills.  During their second and third academic years, our fellows are encouraged to pursue their interests in basic science, clinical and translational research, and quality improvement. Our faculty has diverse interests and leadership roles at all levels of medical education.  We serve a wide range of patient populations providing a wealth of learning opportunities for fellows. The University of Virginia Medical Center employs an extensive range of pediatric subspecialists, offering a diverse spectrum of multidisciplinary consultants.

 

Program Highlights

  • Pediatric Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Program in collaboration with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh 
  • Pediatric Motility Collaboration with Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters
  • International research collaborations with The Aga Khan University and The Federal University of Ceara
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program following >225 IBD patients and participation in ImproveCareNow (ICN)

  • Multidisciplinary eosinophilic esophagitis clinic (EoE) with >300 patients seen simultaneously by gastroenterology, allergy, and nutrition
  • Division leadership at all levels of undergraduate and graduate medical education
  • Close collaboration with the Adult Gastroenterology Division
  • Biannual Sunday Funday
