Pediatric Radiology

Why UT Southwestern

Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), our Pediatric Radiology program is centered at Children’s Healthâ„  Children's Medical Center Dallas, a private, nonprofit, tertiary-care pediatric hospital and Level I pediatric trauma center that is the primary pediatric teaching hospital for UT Southwestern. Fellows gain experience in the pediatric applications and interpretation of radiography, computed tomography, ultrasonography, angiography, interventional techniques, nuclear radiology, magnetic resonance imaging.

Our Mission

The mission of Children’s Healthâ„  guides all that we do: "Make life better for children." This begins with a dedication to patient care and compassion to serve a vulnerable, often under-served pediatric population. Educating a diverse future generation of healthcare providers, including through this fellowship, is essential to ensure that the needs of children will be met. Finally, actively participating in research and quality projects will ensure optimized care and treatment breakthroughs are available to give hope to patients in the future. Our dedication to these core areas of education, discovery, and healing also form the foundation of UT Southwestern's mission.

Program Aims

  • Educate fellows who complete an ACGME-certified residency in Diagnostic Radiology from a variety of pre-fellowship experiences ranging from small community to large academic residency programs.
  • Produce pediatric radiologists who would be successful in a private practice or academic setting.
  • Impart a core base of medical knowledge and abilities to the trainee through a standardized curriculum of lectures, case conferences, and work experience.
  • Reinforce professionalism and interpersonal skills through extensive interactions with healthcare providers during multidisciplinary conferences, during direct patient care, and educational sessions.
