The principal aim of our program is to educate compassionate, ethical, and growth-minded Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeons who exemplify and provide whole-person care.  We prepare our graduates for careers in academic or community practice by encouraging clinical and surgical excellence, nurturing service-oriented values, engaging in scholarly activity, and fostering individual and collective growth within our program.  Clinical and surgical excellence is developed in the clinic and operating room through progressive levels of resident responsibility provided by attentive faculty who are dedicated to educational excellence. In alignment with the mission of our institution, we seek to nurture service-oriented values and our curriculum emphasizes compassionate, whole-person care.  Our residents are given the resources and mentorship to produce meaningful scholarly work in the field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.  We strive to create an environment within our program that encourages the professional and personal growth of our residents, faculty and fellows.

The program is five years in duration offering wide exposure to all areas of the specialty. Our residents are exposed to a diverse patient population through their rotations at Loma Linda University Medical Center (a tertiary university hospital and level 1 trauma center), Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Riverside University Health System Medical Center (a county hospital), Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veteran’s Hospital (VA Loma Linda Healthcare System), Riverside Community Hospital and SAC Health System (a Federally Qualified Health Center).

The program is accredited by the ACGME for 4 residents per year.  We participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) and accept applications through Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS) for the match. We welcome and encourage senior medical students interested in our program to apply for an externship with us.
