Neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship program

The Division of Neonatology at Advocate Children’s Hospital offers a three-year fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Through a curriculum that focuses on meeting the career goals of the individual fellow, we are committed to providing a comprehensive fellowship program that offers the best educational, clinical and research experience available to launch a successful career in neonatology. Our program is designed to equip fellows with the education and skills needed to manage a wide range of neonatal diseases, an awareness of neonatal outcomes, the teaching skills to train others, and the research training that will promote their contribution to the field of neonatology.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine training program of the Advocate Children’s Hospital, Division of Neonatology, is to create and maintain an environment in which the trainees have the opportunity and are encouraged to learn:

• The evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of disorders arising in the antenatal, perinatal, and neonatal period while providing excellent care for newborns and young infants.
• The technical and procedural skills necessary to care for critically ill newborns and young infants.
• The research skills which allow them to contribute to the body of knowledge upon which advances in medical care for mothers and newborns are based.
• The skills and understanding to manage the ethical, psychosocial and emotional aspects involved in the care of sick neonates and their families in a family-centered, compassionate, and caring environment.
• To be lifelong learners and teachers to their patients, families, fellow physicians, professionals in allied health disciplines, and contributing members of the society which supports all our endeavors.
