Internal Medicine - Infectious Disease Fellowship

Welcome

The Infectious Disease Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa welcomes you as you read about our program.

Our goal is to foster expertise and excellence in the care of patients with infections. A parallel goal is to train scholars who discover, advance programs and teach, with a shared vision to cure illness and improve human health.

An amazing breadth of infectious diseases is encountered on our consult services. Fellows work with interdisciplinary teams in an award-winning academic medical center, including a state-of-the-art Microbiology Lab.

Our talented, diverse faculty are committed to the clinical education of trainees, so that all are prepared to be leaders in their future healthcare homes.

The program is attentive to the individual career goals of the fellow, offering 3 tracks for professional development. Trainees successfully prepare for careers in either academic ID by multiple opportunities for mentored scholarly work and additional years of research or with a focus on the care of the patient.
