Thank you for your interest in our Family Medicine Residency Training Program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC). We were approved for training in May 1993 and have since developed an outstanding program. We invite you to learn more about us and experience our dynamic program in Brooklyn, New York. We are committed to extending to our Family Practice Residents the best education, while at the same time providing the highest quality of healthcare to our patients.
We are located in an urban environment. TBHC is a large, 464-bed, multi-specialty, nonprofit, voluntary-staff institution located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Our patients are from all walks of life. It is both interesting and educational to provide care, as we do, to people with diverse cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
We have many unique and exciting components in our training program, including:
- Two active Family Medicine Centers approved for residents' training
- An inherent Family Medicine inpatient service
- A strong commitment to community medicine, including health outreaches, nursing home and other community facilities
- An exceptional experience in primary care sports medicine, led by a dually certified Family Medicine/Sports Medicine physician
In summary, we are a unique, truly progressive, inner-city Family Medicine Residency Training Program. We serve a variety of cultural and ethnic communities and we offer innovative educational programs. We are committed to quality and compassion in addressing the healthcare needs of urban neighborhoods.
