The clinical activities in the Department of Dermatology are comprehensive and diverse. Common as well as rare and challenging cutaneous conditions are seen in a diverse patient population.
Outpatient services occur mainly in the Departmental clinic at the Bellaire Station and at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The Department of Dermatology offers Residency and Fellowship programs.
The residency program provides excellence in Dermatology training and is primarily based at the McGovern Medical School.
M.D. or D.O. applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship program in Pathology or Dermatology prior to beginning the Dermatopathology Fellowship.
The faculty and residents of the combined UTHealth Houston and MDACC Department of Dermatology receive $2.5 million of research funding per year. Some of these are federal grants and others are funded by pharmaceutical companies to investigate potential new therapies and imaging systems.
The department occupies about 2,500 square feet of laboratory space across the two institutions.
