Our accredited fellowship program offers you a flexible curriculum, allowing you to delve deeply into your professional interests. Our academic environment ensures that you pursue those interests guided by university faculty on the leading edge of medicine.

Choose from Two Established Tracks

We give you the choice to concentrate your training in one of two equally strong tracks: electroencephalography and epilepsy, or electromyography and neuromuscular diseases.

Whichever path you follow, our expert faculty will guide you through every stage of your training. We’ll engage you in cutting-edge clinical practices, giving you the tools to solve diagnostic puzzles and provide exemplary care to patients at key stages in their illness.

Train With Leading Specialists

You’ll receive specialized, individualized training from attentive faculty who are leaders in neurological care, research and education.

  • neuromuscular disease specialists
  • one of the area’s only physicians skilled in advanced electrophysiological techniques, such as single-fiber electromyography
  • a pediatric neurophysiologist with expertise in autism spectrum disorders
  • a nationally renowned medical geneticist
  • specialists in myasthenia gravis and pediatric epilepsy

Our faculty bring national and international perspectives to their work, with professional experiences or credentials from, among other institutions:

  • Harvard Medical School
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
  • Tel-Aviv University
  • Beijing Medical University
  • University of British Columbia

Provide Care in Diverse Settings

You’ll develop your skills in state-of-the art learning facilities as well as diverse clinical care centers that allow you to see a number of interesting conditions.

Among others, your training sites include:

  • this region’s only Level 4 regional epilepsy monitoring unit
  • a Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic serving children, adolescents and adults
  • our Gross Anatomy Lab, where you’ll directly view variations in the peripheral nervous system, origins and insertions of muscle and the location of nerves
  • our Museum of Neuroanatomy, with unique learning tools that include 3-D views of human brains illustrating normal and pathological central nervous system anatomy

Achieve Your Goals, Enjoy Your Life

Our fellowship positions you well for subspecialty practice, but it doesn’t do so at the expense of a work-life balance.

Unlike the pace of your neurology residency, you’ll have more free time in our fellowship program, including minimal on-call responsibilities.

Western New York offers you the ideal environment for you to advance your career and enjoy your life. Training in our expanding downtown medical campus will stimulate your academic and clinical interests as you take your place among the medical professionals helping to reshape this region into a dynamic health care hub.

In your off-hours, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of everything the “City of Good Neighbors” has to offer: a robust cultural scene, family-friendly amenities, a low cost of living and much more.
